The eleven month low of 51.6 points (down from 60.8) this month is being blamed on extended lock downs and increasing infection rates across NSW and VIC. The biggest declines were seen in Production (-11.6 to 50.2) and Sales (down by -11.8 to 49.9). Food & Beverage was the only sub sector to continue to expand. Closer to home, the Machinery & Equipment manufacturing sector stalled and the Metal Products and Building Materials manufacturing sector, not surprisingly contracted due to restrictions in place across VIC and NSW.
New Zealand PMI
This month saw the BusinessNZ PMI decline by 22.1 points to 40.1, the first contraction within eight months. Similar to Australia, this contraction is being blamed on tough Nationwide lock downs and further restrictions for Auckland. Production was the indicator that contracted the most. Expansion hopes are being pegged on restrictions lifting shortly.
These indicators are expected to turn around in the coming months as we start to achieve our vaccination levels and reduce restrictions.

Jivan holds a degree in Mechatronics and has over five years of managing engineering projects. Welcome Jivan!
As you might have heard Austech is being pushed out to June next year and will be held at Darling Harbour. It will be nice to be once-again back in the harbour, we look forward to seeing you face-to-face at the stand.
There is also some new technology that has been released for our suppliers at Blech Expo, EMO, and specialised Innovation days coming up. We look forward to sharing more once these products are released.
Let’s hope we continue to see more restrictions eased for Victoria and New South Wales. As always we are here to help with any support required and we sincerely hope you’re all doing ok.
