About Zenith Custom Creations

Craig Van Der Stelt started his business in 2001 as a one man band in a small shed. Zenith Custom Creations has now grown to six employees in an 800 square metre workshop. Specialising primarily in making custom parts for the transport engineering industry, Zenith manufacture a wide range of projects using high quality steel, including but not limited to; custom made gooseneck trailers, semi trailers, tilt trays, ute trays, truck trays and more.

Maxiem 1530 Waterjet is Increasing Efficiencies Across the Business

Prior to purchasing their Maxiem 1530 waterjet, Craig explains that it could take up to a day and a half to create a part.

“The time taken to produce a part has gone from one and a half days to one and a half hours. As we produce custom, handmade pieces, it was incredibly time consuming and we just didn’t have that time to wait after a piece had been sent away to be finished. Now, the waterjet has sped up the process dramatically – a piece comes off the machine and it’s finished. We can use the part instantly, rather than having to carry out a second process then fit it. It’s sped up our processing time dramatically.

We’ve got a real edge on our competitors now. Our waterjet means that we’re saving massive amounts of time and the finished product is better and more consistent. We can take on more work, diversify and produce way more in-house rather than having to send parts out for the next process.”

The Maxiem 1530 joins the sheet metal guillotine, pan brake folder and hydraulic cropper and punch machines already in the workshop. Since the arrival of the waterjet, there has been less need for the guillotine as the waterjet can mark the material. This means that folding is made much easier, and as a result, jobs are more consistent.

Customer and Supplier Relationships are Key

Zenith pride themselves on the longevity of their customer relationships. Renowned for their excellent reputation within the industry, their fine craftsmanship and high quality produce contribute to the company’s success.

Craig explains, “the training and support we’ve received from our supplier, Headland, has been awesome. We chose OMAX due to the high quality, user-friendly controls and variety of upgrade options – and knowing that we’ll have prompt support from Headland if and when we need it only makes our experience better.”
